Around the same time Tahlia Harvey started a business degree in Adelaide, she was delving into nutrition and creating raw food recipes. Her passion for this area grew, so much that she switched her degree to nutrition at the same university, only to find out the course was more about food technology and science.

“That’s when I realised I was looking for a holistic nutrition degree like Endeavour’s,” Tahlia said. “It’s hard to believe that four and half years later, I’m finished! COVID-19 delayed my final student clinic sessions for several months, which was hard because the student clinic is where all your learning comes together. It’s also where you understand that in this career, you’ll always be learning.”

“In the student clinic, it is empowering to receive guidance from lecturers who also run their own practices. Being able to hear about their experience firsthand is so helpful,” Tahlia said. “The Endeavour lecturers are very supportive, and they’re so passionate about natural health that it rubs off on you! You can’t help but be influenced in a good way! Everyone at Endeavour is very open to helping each other.”

Through her studies, Tahlia discovered that she wanted to help other women to make the best lifestyle and food choices. Before studying a nutrition degree at Endeavour, Tahlia started her Instagram and generated a large following of people who welcomed her authentic approach to being mentally and physically well.

“While I was studying, I worked at a healthy juice bar and café in the city to make some income. I also studied some of my degree part-time, so I could work and travel to Greece, Italy, Spain, Bali and Thailand,” Tahlia said. “I loved exploring cafes and food in different destinations.”

“One day, I would love to own a practice and run retreats overseas for my clients, but I’m starting my business online. COVID-19 has given us all a crash course in online consultations, and I think it’s a good move as it makes natural health more accessible for clients.” As well as consultations, Tahlia is planning mini nutrition e-courses for women, mindfulness tools, recipes and e-books.

“The most rewarding part of this career is being able to help others,” she said. “When someone comes to see you and tells you that they’re feeling better because you’ve helped them improve their quality of life – that’s a very good feeling,” Tahlia said. “That’s what I’m most excited about working on now that I’ve finished.”
