We've all been through those slumps of feeling low in energy, brain fog, or our skin starts acting up and no matter what you try, nothing seems to be working. These could be signs that its time for a cleanse. Luckily, Endeavour graduate and qualified Naturopath, Adelaide Poschelk, has written an article on her top cleansing tips.
Ok, gone are the days where “cleansing” and “detoxing” are buzz words in the health industry. Despite being a popular term, they were previously in the spotlight for all of the wrong reasons. Often, people would jump to cleansing and detoxing for a “quick fix” to lose weight, acutely erase bad decisions and so on. Unfortunately, this not only increases the risk of creating a bad relationship with oneself but it also dismisses the fundamental importance of detoxing and why it is so important for our health.
Rather than focusing on misconceptions, let’s focus on why supporting your detoxification pathways is hugely beneficial to your health.
Toxins accumulate on a daily basis, whether it be from food, water, occupational exposure, environmental exposure, cosmetics, clothing and so on. Our body has filtration systems (e.g. liver, kidneys, skin, bowel motions, lymphatic system) so ensuring they are functioning optimally is beneficial to your health and wellbeing.
Now, you want to gently support your detoxification pathways on a daily basis. If you’re doing a cleanse program, a key tip is slow and steady wins the race. If done too quickly, this can cause more burden on our essential organs.
Stimulates circulation and lymphatic flow, aiding in the removal of toxins via the skin. Use a natural bristle brush and apply gentle pressure. Brush towards your heart using long, sweeping motions. Repeat every 2 - 3 days.
Promotes deep sweating to increase elimination of toxins and improves circulation. If you’re a beginner, just start with 1 per week. Ensure you increase your water intake to rehydrate!
This recipe is not only delicious but it aids detoxification, is rich in energising minerals that your adrenals love and stimulates digestive enzymes to support breakdown of food and nutrient absorption.
